KADUNA—Fear gripped residents of Koi town, headquarters of Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State as the earth vibrated beneath the ancient town twice on Sunday afternoon.
This will be the second time this year that Kaduna State experienced such an accident. Confirming the incident to Vanguard, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the LGA, Mr. Ben Kure, said the first one happened around 10:30am yesterday.
He said: “I was in Church around 10:30am when the whole town shook. It lasted for about 3 to 5 seconds. I came out of church and we inspected the town and there was no damage, no injury.
“Two hours later, while I was driving to Kaduna, a palace official called to inform me that there was another one that took place. When I inquired, he said there were no damages.
“I have already informed all relevant agencies of government and officials. We are putting in place all necessary cautions and preparing for any eventuality,” he said.
On July 30, 2016, Haying Magani in Ikara LGA was rattled by light earth tremor which destroyed some homes and injured a few persons.
